This children’s ceramics workshop is designed as a creative space, a first approach to ceramics, where thanks to being a sensory activity, creativity and imagination are stimulated. We believe that knowledge and experimentation is essential for boys and girls, with techniques such as ceramics that are developed in space and allow the learning of these skills, also promoting enjoyment and fun during the process at all times.
What will we do during the workshop?
During the workshop, the boys and girls play with the clay and will create one or several pieces through the basic shaping techniques that we teach them (the pinch technique, the iron technique or the churros technique). Once they have their pieces made, we move on to the decoration part, where they will be able to practice painting with slips, applying textures and stamps or sgraffito. With these decorative techniques you will have all the knowledge to finish personalizing and giving the final touch to your creations. All of this in a welcoming environment, of respect and freedom, so that all boys and girls feel comfortable and we can express ourselves without fear while we enjoy the process.
We structured the workshop in the following way: the first part we dedicated ourselves to shaping the clay that created the pieces. Once we get the desired shape, we take a brief break to let the pieces dry a little and we take the opportunity to have a drink (there will be water, fruit and cookies) and continue getting to know each other better. After the short break we return to action to finish decorating the pieces.
Once the pieces are finished, and the workshop comes to an end, we carefully store pieces to take them to be fired and glazed, in this way the clay becomes ceramic, making the pieces durable and usable. We return the pieces to La Térmica after a month, where you can collect them.

- They know and experiment with the material, creating utilitarian or decorative objects through basic ceramic shaping techniques.
- They know and apply different types of ceramic decoration.
- They create ceramic pieces.
- Children’s self-esteem is encouraged through the creation of objects that they can use in their daily lives.
- The development of basic skills such as spatial and volume perception, concentration and creativity is encouraged through the different processes.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is aimed at boys and girls between 6 and 12 years old who want to develop their skills, explore their imagination and are not afraid of getting mud on themselves. For this reason, we recommend that you wear clothes that can get stained or an apron, since, although the mud is easily cleaned, we will work more comfortably. The group has a maximum of 8 students and the duration of the workshop is 3 hours.
All materials are included in the price of the workshop, so it is not necessary for children to bring anything.
candle We are Virginia and Paula, two cousins who, having taken different paths, Paula studied Industrial Design and Virginia History of Art, both a long etc. of masters and different work experiences later, they ended up studying ceramics (Paula at the @escueladeartesantelmo and Virginia at the @eag_oficial). From there, they decided to create Candeá, a brand under which they create and share their passion for ceramics by offering workshops in the spaces where they are invited to teach them.
