“We started writing this play when Trump was president the first time, and there was a sense in the air that something terribly wrong was afoot,” says Kaufman, “But since then, because we’ve been touring it for almost a year and a half, so many things that have happened – Iran, Ukraine, Israel – and because the play deals with man’s inhumanity towards man and deals with these very hefty moral questions, no matter what happens in the world, the play becomes a lens through which you can examine contemporary issues.
