Paul Mescal may have made the move from Dublin theatre stages to Hollywood red carpets, but when it comes to where he lives, his approach is pretty low-key.
His property choices speak to his Irish roots, his London lifestyle and a preference for spaces that feel comfortable and homely.
After several years renting, including a stint with his Normal People co-star India Mullen in a north-east London flat, rumour has it that Mescal recently purchased a new home in the capital.

According to reports, the 29-year-old actor has snapped up a property in Kentish Town, placing him alongside a mix of well-known neighbours, including Bill Nighy.
He is a familiar face in London’s neighbourhood pubs — from Islington’s The Old Queen’s Head to The Canonbury Tavern, where he has been seen enjoying a game of cards with friends and on a date night with his girlfriend, singer Gracie Abrams.
His affinity for a good pint extends to traditional Irish pubs; he has recommended The Auld Shillelagh in Stoke Newington for its excellent Guinness.
He has also been spotted jogging through Highbury Fields, dining at Michelin-starred Brat in Shoreditch and enjoying a night out at Camden members’ club House of KOKO.
Finding his dream West Cork farmhouse

West Cork
Pixaby
Mescal was born and raised in Maynooth, County Kildare. After studying at Trinity College’s Lir Academy in Dublin, he moved to London in 2020 to expand his stage and screen career. However, the pull of home remains strong.
In 2022, Mescal purchased a two-storey stone farmhouse near Schull in West Cork, a region famed for its rugged coastline, cosy pubs and artistic community spirit.
Local reports place the purchase price at around €600,000. It was never officially on the market but Mescal managed to snap it up through a private sale.
The West Cork home is not just a holiday retreat but a deliberate choice to stay connected to the Irish landscapes that shaped his upbringing.
Mescal was so taken with Schull during a visit to the village’s Fastnet Film Festival that he moved quickly to secure the property, reportedly with former partner Phoebe Bridgers at the time.
His close friend Saoirse Ronan has a place just a 20-minute drive away in Ballydehob.

Could a Hollywood home be on the cards?
With his career branching into major film projects including the upcoming Beatles movie, Mescal’s property story is still unfolding.
The West Cork farmhouse anchors him to his heritage, while his London base supports a busy work life.
With Hollywood continuing to knock on his door, whether he expands his portfolio across the pond remains to be seen.
Stay in the Hamnet houses

Cwmmau Farmhouse

Fancy staying in one of the properties where Mescal filmed Hamnet?
One of the film’s most memorable settings, the Jacobean Cwmmau Farmhouse in Herefordshire, was used as Hewlands, the childhood home of Agnes (Jessie Buckley) and the backdrop for her first meetings with William Shakespeare (Mescal).
Now cared for by the National Trust, this beautiful 17th-century timber-framed farmhouse — with original oak beams, stone floors and leaded windows — is available to rent as holiday accommodation from March 2026 onwards.
The five-bedroom property sleeps up to 10 guests and sits amid farmland, ancient woodlands and meadows. A stay will cost around £1,460 for 3 nights.

The Old Pumphouse on the Lydney Park Estate
Lydney Park Estate
A short drive south into Gloucestershire’s Forest of Dean brings you to Lydney Park Estatewhere some of Hamnet’s forest scenes were filmed.
Set against sprawling woodland and deer park, Lydney Park has been a backdrop for film and TV productions for years — and its serene scenery features in the moments where Agnes forages, finds solace in nature, and connects with the land around her.
The estate offers several holiday lets and self-catering properties starting from around £86 per night, from charming shepherd’s huts to large converted barns and cottages.
