Key moments
The king and queen, together with the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta Sofía, preside over this Friday the ceremony for the Princess of Asturias Awards, an edition that highlights the prominence of Doña Leonor due to her coming of age and the 10 years she has been serving as honorary president of the foundation that grants the awards. Once again this year, the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo hosts the central event of this event, the awards ceremony. The first to speak was the president of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, Ana Isabel Fernández Álvarez, who highlighted the “work for the common good” of this year’s winners. This year’s honorees are Joan Manuel Serrat, Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts; Marjane Satrapi, Communication and Humanities; Carolina Marín, from Sports; Michael Ignatieff, Social Sciences; and Ana Blandiana, of Letters.
