Speaking at the Victorian Society’s annual meeting, Mr Grierson said: “The vast majority of people had never been to Bradford before and even with a very tight schedule we would only be scratching the surface.
“I struggle to think of anywhere else that has such a collection of Victorian buildings as Bradford.”
Referring to the ongoing work at the center, he said: “I know the work for public power is still a work in progress, but it looks very promising.
“I got the impression that decades ago Bradford lost part of its soul to the car, lots of big roads were carved through the city centre.
“There is a sense that this work will take the city center back to the people.”
