When on April 9, Thierry Frémaux, the general delegate of the Cannes festival, one of the most powerful people in world cinema, read the list of films participating in the contest, the Spanish audiovisual industry held its breath: rumors spoke of a favorable wind that was confirmed that morning. For the first time, Spain placed three feature films in the Competition section, which was confirmation of a change and a rise in the world cinematographic panorama. At this 79th Cannes festival, which opens on Tuesday, they will compete for the Palme d’Or The loved one, by Rodrigo Sorogoyen (which also premieres commercially in France on the same day as its premiere on La Croisette, Saturday the 16th); Bitter Christmas, by Pedro Almodóvar, and The black ball, by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi.
