The acting Minister of Culture of Romania, Andras Istvan Demeter, announced his resignation on Monday afternoon a few hours after an audio was broadcast in public space in which he uses rude terms against national interests. His party, from the Hungarian minority, where the politician is from, had asked him to leave his position and present his excuses publicly as a result of the statements that have scandalized the entire country. During a conversation with Ministry employees, the Hungarian-born politician recalled an episode from 2012 when he was questioned by the Prosecutor General’s Office in a case related to the acquisition of Radio Chișinău (from Moldova) by Radio Romania, according to the portal 2mnews.ro, which also posted the conversation. The former head of this portfolio alleged the possible risk that the station in the Moldovan capital would fall into Russian hands.
