Juan Pedro Domecq’s run lacked many things. Namely, strength, breed, class…, that is, almost everything that should be required of a fighting bull. But they were noble, obedient bulls, they did not pose insurmountable problems and they let the bullfighters do everything or almost everything. Although in view of what was seen, the bullfighters did not fully clarify themselves with such calmness of the horned ones. As if that were not enough, their presence also left a lot to be desired; very unequal in face, from the cornalón who was fourth, or the very offensive and astinous second, to the poorly armed fifth. Bulls of little background, but suitable for modern bullfighting; and shape bulls, for greater comfort of the swords. For a long time they went through pure procedures, leaving themselves with no more fight than the obligatory and bureaucratic entry to the horse. Nothing new either, in view of the history of this livestock farm in this square.
But as every rule has its exception, a sixth bull jumped out and wiped out the cattle pride. Well done, also fair, he simply left himself on the sticks and resorted to the crutch with determination and class. It was a bull that endured a long-term task, which Roca Rey squeezed in a trademark task. From the initial statues to the inverted circulars that culminated a task that was not wasted. Roca endured breaks, let such an excellent horn breathe and enjoyed himself in front of a totally dedicated audience. The bull, meanwhile, with his breath almost to its limit, held on until his final breath. A forceful thrust gave way to the prize and the anger at the presidency for not granting the second ear.
Due to merit and interest, Talavante’s work in the second also counted. With the bull dedicated, noble and obedient, this work took place through the most classic channels. Tight, coiled muletazos, with a Talavante totally delivered. Long and compact task, although somewhat lacking in emotion due to the bull’s sweet charge.
In the fifth, Talavante tried but the task passed without interest, with the bullfighter on one side and the bull on the other. He also did not count, or very little, the Roca Rey task to the third party. A bull that had a hard time attacking, defensive due to its lack of strength, and the bullfighter looked for ways around it without finding a solution. Not even the usual final bernadines managed to warm up a line that never reacted.
Manzanares passed by as if on tiptoe. None of his bulls had any transmission or interest. The first one allowed himself to be done, he even showed his face clearly, but he lacked so many other things that his calmness infected the matador himself and the people. The fourth had very little desire to attack, while Manzanares worked hard to get something out of such a dry hole. Reluctantly, the bull took the muleta and, without showing off and trying hard, Manzanares could barely manage to comply without further ado.
