Russian soprano Anna Netrebko has canceled her scheduled performance in The troubadour at the Teatro Real due to “severe physical exhaustion and vocal fatigue, aggravated by extreme weather conditions.” The information, offered by the singer’s representative, states that after Monday’s recital Netrebko felt unwell and “the doctor, after examining her, issued a certificate in which he prescribed absolute physical and vocal rest for the next few weeks.” The role of Leonora will be performed by the Italian soprano Eleonora Buratto on July 6, 9, 13 and 16, according to a statement published this Thursday by the Teatro Real.
