El Cid was present in the ring and gave off the scent of elegant seniority, with graceful, bullfighting gaits, and a serenity and slowness typical of a teacher with many afternoons behind him. The four Veronicas with which he received his first sounded temperate and good taste. But that good smell disappeared as the minutes passed and the sound of the bull, noble and with quality in its attacks, required, in addition to presence, stillness and firmness.

Bulls of The Pillarwell presented and fine, very unequal in poles – the first one pushed hard in the first meeting – and tame; noble and bland. They stood out second and sixth in the final third.
Uceda Leal: thrust through (silence); puncture, half a perpendicular thrust and 5 jerks (silence).
El Cid: puncture -notice-, three punctures, -second warning-, puncture and the bull lies down (ovation); half lunge (silence).
Javier Cortes: low lunge (silence); downturn, prick, downturn -warning- and thrust (silence).
Las Ventas bullring. May 2. Second celebration of the Community Fair. Full (21,483 spectators, according to the company). Infanta Elena and the president of the Community of Madrid attended, and were received with a loud ovation. At the end of the parade, the music band played the national anthem.
