The board of directors of the General Society of Authors and Editors (SGAE) has re-elected this Friday the playwright and film and television scriptwriter Antonio Onetti as president of the entity, renewing the position for another four years. As reported by the SGAE, at the constituent meeting this Friday, Onetti has revalidated the position he has held since April 30, 2020, when he defeated and replaced the opera singer Pilar Jurado.
The candidacy of Plataforma Authoral, with which Onetti competed in the elections on November 22, was the winner in the two colleges in dispute: the Big Law (playwrights and choreographers) and the Little Law (musicians). In Audiovisuals he also won as he was the only candidate presented.
Antonio Onetti (Seville, 62 years old) has a degree in dramatic art from the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art of Madrid (RESAD). He is a stage director and professor of playwriting and dramatic writing. As well as a founding member of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain, of which he was general secretary in its first term. Onetti has been a member of the SGAE since 1987 and has extensive experience representing authors within this entity.
In addition to the election of the new president, the Board of Directors has appointed four vice-presidents: David Santisteban, for the Small Law school; Ines Paris, by the Audiovisual school; Ernesto Caballero, for the Gran Derecho school; and Carlos Martínez (M20, SL EDICIONES MUSICALES), for the College of Editors. The four vice presidents and the president of SGAE will make up the permanent commission in the next four years. The composer Juan José Solana has been re-elected as president of the SGAE Foundation.
