The operating profit was 7.6 million euros. – It was a great year for us in every way. International events have returned to Amsterdam and we have been very active abroad with our own events during the past year,” says Paul Riemens, CEO of RAI Amsterdam.
The event center suffered millions of losses in the corona years 2020 and 2021. The government’s measures led to the cancellation of many major events and made it difficult for international visitors to enter Amsterdam. Riemens previously announced that the number of exhibitors and visitors will return to the pre-corona level by the end of 2022.
Jaarbeurs in Utrecht
The International Broadcasting Convention, better known as IBC, was last year’s most attended event. The annual conference of media and entertainment companies gathered more than 43,000 visitors from more than 170 countries. In addition, the Cisco Live technology fair was held at the RAI for the first time, and the European Society of Cardiology gathered 24,000 doctors in Amsterdam.
Utrecht’s Jaarbeurs announced earlier this month that a profit was made during the past year for the first time since the corona. The events company mainly organized more fairs abroad, including Thailand, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates. The Jaarbeurs itself had fewer large events last year.
Utrecht Jaarbeurs made a profit of just under 10 million euros last year after several years of losses caused by corona restrictions.
