This Friday, Barcelona hosted the 19th edition of LOS40 Music Awards Santander 2024. The Palau Sant Jordi was completely filled to receive artists such as Bad Gyal, Estopa, Rauw Alejandro, Maluma and Lola Índigo. The gala has focused on supporting those affected by the damage that devastated several municipalities in Valencia on October 29. To this end, a solidarity Row 0 has been set up through which more than 400,000 euros have already been raised that will go to the victims of the storm. The awards ceremony could be followed through Movistar+; on the web, appantenna and YouTube channel of LOS40 and throughout Latin America and the United States through TNT.
The event, which has filled the Palau Sant Jordi with all the tickets sold out for months, has been hosted by Tony Aguilar, Cristina Boscá and Dani Moreno. The presenters have been constantly reminding us of the possibility of participating in the solidarity gala with Fila 0. This initiative, which began with a donation from LOS 40 —owned by PRISA MEDIA— worth 200,000 euros, will be active until November 15 and allows anyone to contribute through solidarity tickets that can be purchased for a minimum price of 5 euros. Everything raised will be sent to the Red Cross and will go to those affected by the damage.
The night was opened by Maluma with a highly anticipated performance acclaimed by the entire public. The Colombian has given way to Estopa, who have made the entire audience sing with classics of the caliber of Like Shrimp. Then it was the time of the American artist Teddy Swims, who was nominated for four awards and who sang one of his best-known songs: Lose Control. The first prizes were awarded by the influencer Dulceida, who also wanted to “send a message of encouragement to those affected by dana.” The first winner of the night was Ana Mena, who won the award for best song in the Spain category with Madrid City.
Then it was Rauw Alejando’s turn, the highlight of the concert, for being the artist with the most nominations, seven. The Puerto Rican singer has performed hits such as That nap ZzZz o Passportamong others. He has been succeeded by Manu Carreño, director of ‘El Larguero’, and Dani Garrido, director of ‘El Carrusel Deportivo’ (SER programs). Both have presented awards such as the Global Latin Category for best Latin festival, tour or concert, which Maluma ended up winning.
Other awards that have been given in the Spain category have been the award for Best Urban Song, which was given to Saiko for her song Bad Gyalor the award for Best Album, which Abraham Mateo ended up winning with Insomnia. Vicco, who won in the Best Music Video section, and Ruslana, as Best New Artist, have also been awarded. In the Global Latin category, the winners were Kapo, who won the award for Best Breakthrough Artist or Group, and Myke Towers, who won the awards for Best Urban Artist or Group and Best Album. Enrique Iglesias, who until the last few hours it was not known whether he would attend or not, has also gone on stage twice: he has won the best collaboration awards for Such is life, with María Becerra, and has won in the Golden Award category.
The artists made their first appearance in front of the press at 4:00 p.m., parading along the red carpet and answering questions from the presenters of the Pre-Showa program broadcast through LOS40’s YouTube channel, about their impressions ahead of the ceremony. They have also walked the carpet and spoken to the media, celebrities and influencers like Belén Esteban or Laura Escanes. The latter has taken the opportunity to claim the solidarity gala and the reach it can have: “Music often helps us and heals our hearts, and that LOS40 wanted to help and hold this solidarity gala, I think it is beautiful. International artists come here who will help give visibility to what is happening in our country.”
