The fourth edition of the Ondas Globales Podcast Awards, organized by PRISA Audio, EL PAÍS and Cadena SER, has received 1,168 nominations from 16 countries during the registration period, from November 20, 2024 to January 7, 2025. Four years after its birth, the Awards have increased the number of applications received by 31.5% compared to its first edition.

The jury of this edition, made up of communication and media professionals of recognized international prestige, will be in charge of choosing the 70 nominees for these awards, which will be announced in March. There will be five finalists for each of the 14 categories open to the participation of podcasters independents, production companies, media and platforms. The awards for Breakthrough Podcast and Lifetime Achievement in the podcast industry in Spain and Latin America will be named by direct election of the court itself.

This year, the category Nonfiction narrative has been the one that has received the most registrations and surpasses, for the first time, the podcasts in the category Conversational regarding the number of candidates. For its part, fiction has maintained its position with high-budget productions and high-quality independent proposals.

The registrations in Video podcasta category released in the last edition, have experienced notable growth, reflecting a change in the way podcasts are consumed. They have also increased the number of candidates in the categories of Best Screenplay y Best Sound Designwhich demonstrates the professionalization of the podcast industry in recent years.

This edition is marked by the explosion of projects in Spain and the notable increase in initiatives from the United States. At the European level, the United Kingdom and Italy continue to be the countries that contribute the most nominations to these awards for yet another year.
