Carlos Boyero has given his opinion in his weekly article about the film Hind’s voicebased on a true story. Specifically, in the emergency call that the Red Crescent volunteers have with a six-year-old girl, Hind Rajab. The minor was trapped in a car after being attacked and after begging for her rescue she ended up dying. According to the critic, he does not know what to respond when his friends know that he has seen the film directed by the Tunisian Kaouther Ben Hania and ask him for his opinion: “I experience it in perpetual and unforgettable shock even though I already know how this intolerable and terrifying story is going to end.”
The expert highlights the fact that in Hollywood they have helped to make what this film tells be seen and heard: “It is as unusual as it is encouraging.” Because this tape is heard, it is the real voice of a Palestinian girl fighting for survival, it is not simulated or dubbed: “There is no moment of relaxation for the viewer and towards the end I perceive physical reactions in me. It is a brutal experience.” He talks about it causing a lump in his throat and tears and he curses his executioners.
The plot takes place in the offices of the Red Crescent organization in the West Bank and for Boyero, the director creates an “unbreathable atmosphere, which this story deserves.” “These anguished staff maintain a permanent telephone conversation with little Hind, who remains trapped in a family car. She is accompanied by the corpses of her uncles and cousins, cut down by the Israeli army,” highlights the critic, who concludes by stating that seeing this story causes him “chills and bad feelings”, as well as “infinite compassion.”
