Coming in 2007 Into The Wild from: a movie based on Jon Krakauer’s 1996 book of the same name. The movie and the book tell the tragic true story of Christopher McCandless: a 22-year-old prosperous man who didn’t feel at home in a cramped environment. The thoughtful society he lived in, and so he decided to leave his possessions behind and hitchhike to wild Alaska.

A perfect match

The film was directed by Sean Penn. The director realizes in the middle of filming that Eddie Vedder should do the music for the film. “I had structured my script to be based on a musical score while we were shooting the film, Eddie Vedder’s voice as a singer and songwriter came to mind as the right choice for this film,” Penn wrote. the film’s press release at the time.

Vedder takes the opportunity with both hands. He is given almost complete creative freedom and the music is ready in no time, even playing most of the instruments himself. The result is his debut solo album Music from the movie: Into The Wildfull of hauntingly beautiful songs, where we see a softer side than usual from Pearl Jam’s frontman.
