The Editorial La NAÑA ROTA has been awarded the National Prize for the best cultural editorial corresponding to the year 2025, as reported by the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday. The jury has highlighted the publisher for “her constant dedication, perseverance, originality and her commitment to the great quality edition with a catalog that is testimony of her demanding spirit and one of the most valuable examples of the independent editorial landscape.”
The seal, born in Segovia in October 1996, stands out for its careful editions and its commitment determined by authors who do not fit into the dominant currents of the market. His first books were grouped in the small format collection useless books, in which genres such as narrative, poetry, theater, drawing, photography and comic were combined, mainly from poems by authors such as Ángela Segovia, María Salgado, Luz Pichel, Carlos Bueno or Lupe Gómez. In 2003 he opened the Books of the pointer, which brings together essays and also classical literature. In 2005 the collection was born Stolen bookscomposed of written texts for the theater, with works by some of the most prominent authors of the Spanish contemporary scene, such as Juan Mayorga, Angélica Liddell, Rodrigo García, Pablo Remón, Lucía Carballal or María Velasco.
The jury of the award has also indicated that the broken nail “has managed to make visible, provide coherence, continuity and quality to the edition of genres not as commercial as dramatic literature, poetry and essay. And this, through a heterogeneous catalog of unique works born on the borders of the avant -garde and the underground that, thanks to a work of opportunity and contextualization, They manage to insert themselves in Spanish cultural discourse. ”
The award, endowed with 30,000 euros, aims to distinguish the whole of the editorial work of a natural or legal person who has stood out for his outstanding and innovative contribution to Spanish cultural life. The Tusquets and Anagrama publishers were granted for the first time in 1994. In recent years they have received a cliff, norm, ardor, foam pages, half cow, Austral and kariós.
