CSI Ommen started yesterday. Not yet with international competitions, but with future international show jumping. On Tuesday, July 2nd, 1.10m and 1.20m classes were organized for young show jumpers and national riders. The winner in four-year-olds was Point of Honor (by Conthargos) and in five-year-olds O Kohinoor Ryal K (Cohinoor VDL)

Developing horse and rider talent in an international environment is not new, but not every event offers this opportunity. Show jumping riders Frank and Hendrik-Jan Schuttert, who are themselves expert trainers of jumping horses, know how important this step can be in the training of young horses and are happy to make room in the competition program.

“Talented show jumping horses”

The premier class is perhaps the Hendriks Hoveniers Prize for four-year-old show jumpers at the 1.05m level. Who has the best young horses under saddle? Jack Broek and Alex Bozorg were asked to give grades for jumping and jumping.

“Despite being a relatively inexperienced group of horses, we found them to show a lot of attitude and put in a good round in this impressive accommodation. All in all they were also well presented and we saw some talented show jumping horses with numbers one and two hardly inferior to each other,” says Jack Broek.

The winner with 25.4 points was the stallion Point of Honor (Conthargos x Cento), nominated by Max Bonomi, a son of Ben Maher’s former 1.60m leading mare Cella. Prommis Me Society (United Touch S) followed with 25.2 points under Arjen van Diepen. Stallion Urico vd Berghoeve Z (Uricas vd Kattevennen), bred from the 1.55m Grand Prix mare Colibelle Hero Z, finished third with 24.8 points under Don Willemsen.

Pater Noster Minka (Verdi TN) led by Pia-Luise Steggink (4th), First Edition VDS (Urano de Cartigny) with Manon van der Sluis (5th) and Ultimo vd Donkhoeve WS (Iago des Peupliers) and Wendy followed at the award ceremony. Scholten (6e).

Five year olds

In the 1.15m class for five-year-old show jumpers, the Schuttert Sport Sales Prize, named after next Saturday night’s auction at CSI Ommen, was won by O Cohinoor Ryal K (Cohinoor VDL) under Britt Schaper. His father Danny won the 5-year-old show jumping class at CSI Twente last week with this horse.

Jessie Wiefferink opened the attack on Britt’s time on Believe ES Z (Brunetti Z), but fell short by 0.13 seconds on this two-stage course. Pim Mulder drove Oilily MF (Impressive VDL) to third place. Olivia van de Bakker (Comthago VDL) and Benthe Lammertink (4e), Heineken Style VK Z (Heineken VK VDL) with Joyce van de Kuilen (5e) en Domichella Z (Dominator 2000 Z) in Skye Morssinkhof (6e).
