After last month’s opening of The Knave of Clubs pub, March sees the launch of upstairs restaurant One Club Row, with food overseen by ex-Allegra chef Patrick Powell. Manhattan is the name of the game on the food and drink front, with oysters and martinis preceding steak tartare, lobster tagliatelle and New York-style cheesecake. It’s not all about the cocktails: there will be as much of an emphasis on Champagne, old-world wines, vermouths and amaros. The surroundings, though, are just as important as what’s on the plate (or in the glass), with a house pianist playing every weekend before singers and jazz musicians take over until late.
