The right-hander José Antonio Morante de la Puebla has decided this morning to suspend the season indefinitely due to a persistent major depression from which he has not recovered despite the treatments received, according to what his agent, Pedro Jorge, told this newspaper. Marquis.
Morante will now undergo a new process regarding his illness, and will only return to the ring when he is fully recovered from his psychological problems.
The bullfighter was already removed from the bullrings from March 17 until Easter Sunday in Seville due to the same illness. On that date he submitted a sick leave report to the Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) company, and as Marques later explained, “José Antonio is very encouraged, he has overcome the problems that forced him to stop and is willing to continue the season with delusion”.
The truth is that Morante returned on the advice of doctors, who thought that joining the arena would benefit him, but that was not the case. The Sevillian bullfighter has performed 17 afternoons to date, he has performed the Paseíllo two afternoons at the San Isidro fair, and he was announced this Sunday at the Charity bullfight, along with Sebastián Castella and Fernando Adrián.
Pedro Jorge Marques has already contacted all the companies with which Morante has signed a contract this season, and the intention of many of them is to keep his name on the summer posters in the hope that the bullfighter recovers for then and decide to reappear.
