Chia Boon Teck, Vice -President of the Singapore Law Association, has resigned from the inappropriate remarks of rape.

This happened shortly after Law Society released an opinion on Tuesday (March 25) claiming his resignation.

In his statement, President Lisa Sam stated that Chia’s views and comments were “impossible” and “harmful”.

“Such comments and views are also harmful to defending the leadership position,” Sam added.

“The victim’s morality should not have been questioned in this way.”

The law association confirmed Chia’s resignation on its LinkedIn page around noon on the same day.

“We thank Chia for his service and stakes during his time in the Council and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” it said in a short statement, adding that the resignation would take effect right away.

Reviews of the Society’s website revealed that Chia is no longer a vice chairman or a member of the Council.

Chia, who has been Vice -President since August 2023, aroused a setback after LinkedIn Post comments were on March 23, in the case of local Tiktoker, which was convicted of sexual violence.

YouTube channel wah! Banana, Lev Panfilov, Tiktoker and former actor stated that the High Court judge was guilty of a woman’s sexual attack on March 21.

Chia questioned the case and judgment in the message that has since been deleted.

“How” did “progress to two rape, one number of sexual violence with penetration and one of the grossness of modesty?” He comments.

Indoor issues and Minister of Law, K. Shanmugam, announced Chia’s actions on Facebook on Monday (March 24).

“By shame and blaming the victims, the misogyny should not have a place in our society,” the minister said.

“Lawyers (especially representatives of lawyers) must be aware that when we make statements that minimize or reject the victims’ concerns, it may have disproportionate effects on other victims.”

Magdalene Chew, the founding director of the Insialegal LLC, described the “shocking disrespect” and “horrifying” the event.

While talking to Asia, Chew stated that Chia’s message Years of attempts to correct the wrong system errors and deal with female victims against social perceptions and prejudices.

He called his resignation a positive step in restoring credibility and trust among legal brotherhood.
