Jammu Vascular Society organizes a scientific session on Pulmonary Embolism

JAMMU, October 13: Jammu Vascular Society (JVS) today organized a scientific session on the increasing clinical problem of thrombosis/clot in patients to mark the World Thrombosis Day.
The meeting was attended by members of Jammu Vascular Society and invited distinguished faculty who focused on presentation and discussion on the very important clinical condition of Pulmonary Embolism – the dreaded complication of Venous Thrombosis (VTE) and ways and means for early diagnosis and treatment. and references to newer intervention techniques.
Dr. Mohan Lal (Senior Cardiologist) was the moderator of the session. Members of Jammu Vascular Society, Dr. Noor Ali, Dr. Ishtayak Ahmad Mir, Dr. Rahul Gupta (pulmonologist), Dr. Mohit Arora, Dr. Vivek Gandotra, Dr. Javed Bandey, Dr. Rouf Gul, Dr. Bhumika Gupta, Dr. Anil Sharma and Dr. Nadeem along with the invited guests and residents participated in a scientific session.
Dr. Tarun Grover (Director, Vascular Surgery, Medanta The Medicity Gurgaon) delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Pulmonary Embolism, Prevention and Response’ highlighting the need for a team of Intensivists, CT Vascular Surgeons, Cardiologists Pulmonologist and Critical Care Specialist. to manage this dreaded condition. He presented a new technology of systems/devices/thrombectomy systems for treating pulmonary embolism that are minimally invasive and reduce risk during surgical procedures.
Dr. Bhumika Gupta presented on the management of deep vein disease and the current status of the latest oral anticoagulants (NOACS) in the treatment of VTE and PAD. The session was followed by a discussion on managing these conditions.
Convener of the society, Dr. Arvind Kohli said that thrombosis is a silent killer and one in four people in the world die from its diseases. That’s why it’s important to prevent thrombosis by following certain health tips, such as walking a lot and staying hydrated, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding prolonged periods of inactivity.
