How Shoreditch became the new Covent Garden

Things became more exponential between 2000 and 2010. Spitalfields Market reopened with a new direction in 2005, Hoxton Grill launched in 2006, Shoreditch House arrived in 2007, Callooy Callay rocked up in 2008 before Pizza East in 2009, and then Allpress Espresso Bar opened on Redchurch Street in 2010. Then came Boxpark in 2011, which probably cemented Shoreditch as a welcoming, inclusive, and somewhere many out-of-London people would perceive to be safe environs. It might have also led to a mood shift: Shoreditch was still quite edgy to some, but possibly flat to the trust funded-trendsetters. The whole shebang paved the way for people from Surrey, Kent, and Essex to roll in on the train. It was a new, known part of London to enjoy, a bit like Soho, just on a bigger scale.
