WINSUM – Every year in June, when summer arrives and the herring are in perfect condition, Holland’s oldest and largest networking and social event takes place: the National Herring Party since 1961, organized by the Dutch Herring Party Foundation. Winsum’s fish shop Winsum has been invited to Kasteel de Haar in Haarzuilens on this festive day, 26 June 2024, to present the best Dutch herring together with six other fish shops.
Who has the best herring?
Since 1961, more than 600 guests, decision-makers, managers and influencers have gathered to enjoy the best herring. Together they solemnly announce the arrival of Dutch Nieuwe. The foundation’s goal is to bring actors from public administration, business, and art and culture together every year in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The fishmongers’ herring presentation competition is the highlight of the evening during the National Herring Festival. A carefully assembled jury evaluates the presentation of the herring and the appearance of the stall. The best fishmonger can call himself the winner of the National Herring Party for the 61st time.
Fish shop Winsum
Traditionally, every year a selection of fishmongers is made to represent the provinces. This year, the Dutch Haring Party Foundation has invited Viswinkel Winsum to represent the province of Groningen. On Wednesday, June 26, they will not be at the market once, but will move their fish stall to Kasteel de Haar in Haarzuilens to surprise the guests and the jury with their herring.
