BREDA – The new cultural policy “City of Creative Talent 2025-2040” is taking shape more and more. In addition to the fifteen basic institutions, eight other cultural organizations have now been told that they can count on the support of the municipality of Breda for the next four years. The advisory committee has evaluated all support applications based on several previously established criteria. Eight facilities meet the criteria and, according to the committee, contribute to the cultural goals of the municipality of Breda. Together they get 510,000 a year.

The support program “Professional Arts Breda 2025-2028” is a continuation of the new cultural policy. With this new policy, the municipality of Breda wants to connect residents, visitors, talent, companies and international people with an attractive cultural offer developed for, with and with talent. In the coming years, the focus will be on a good foundation of culture, youth culture and the development of talents in the creative field. “This policy is in line with economic policy and strengthens Breda’s profile as a city of applied technology and creativity,” the municipality said.

The eight organizations that will receive support over the next four years are KOP, Witte Rook, IDFX, Stormkamer, Zout, Dansnest, Corpo Maquina Society and Bureau Pees. The Professional Arts Breda 2025-2028 support program is intended for non-profit organizations in the professional arts and culture sector. With this important support from the municipality of Breda, organizations can also receive other support, for example from the state administration or the province of North Brabant. The money from other governments and funds thus benefits the residents of Breda. In addition to subsidies, cultural organizations have as much other income as possible, and their plans have been tested.

Councilor Marike de Nobel (culture): “Breda will continue to grow significantly in the coming years. If we want to remain a nice city to live and work in, we also need to offer enough art and culture. This not only makes the city attractive, but also brings people together By supporting these parties over the next four years, we will ensure a clear cultural profile for our residents, development opportunities for Breda’s talents and more cooperation between culture, education and business life.”

Basic cultural institutions

The new eight parties are in addition to the fifteen basic cultural institutions that the municipality of Breda appointed already in December. These are: Nieuwe Veste, Chassé Theater, Stedelijk Museum Breda, MEZZ, CLIB, De Stilte, Brabants International Children’s Festival, Schippers&VanGucht, Pier 15, Bloos (Broedplaats Performing Arts), Tiuri, BredaPhoto, Graphic Matters and Playground Blind Walls. These basic facilities have been granted municipal budget support for the years 2025-2028.

More arrangements

The Professional Arts Breda 2025-2028 program is divided into three categories: Visual arts and design and Performing arts and music. In addition, one organization receives a four-year grant to organize the “Urban Cultural Festival”. Plans for organizing the festival can be submitted until July 1, 2024.

Smaller cultural organizations producing innovative activities in Breda can apply for a two-year support program until July 1, 2024.
New support systems for amateur art and creators’ cultural activities are currently being developed. These can be applied for from 1 October 2024 for the year 2025.
