Starting in 2024, the society announced that it has partnered with sustainability company Simply Sustainable to measure emissions using industry standards.
A spokesperson for Simply Sustainable said: “The ambition shown by the Channel Islands Coop is exactly what is needed to meet the challenges of the climate emergency.”
Carl Winn, director of community and sustainability at CI Coop, said achieving validation through the Science Based Targets initiative demonstrated a commitment to “significant climate action”.
“This is not just about compliance, it’s about protecting our islands and our communities for future generations,” he added.
