The bullfighter Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez will complete his last professional season in 2025, as he revealed through a video on his social networks, in which he explains that this date coincides with the centenary of his grandfather Cayetano Ordóñez’s alternative. Palm Childinitiator of the roundabout saga.
“Next year is very special for me. One hundred years have passed since my great-grandfather Cayetano Ordóñez began my dynasty. I feel that it is time to say goodbye,” explained the bullfighter, accompanied in the video by family images, of Ronda, of his father, Paquirri; of his grandfather, of his brother Francisco and of his own career.
“It has also been twenty years since I started in the world of bullfighting and not everything has been pretty, but during this time I have tried to transmit qualities that my profession reflects, such as courage, effort, discipline, solidarity… and I have “I wanted to share this news with you so that we can live together with even more excitement what is without a doubt for me the most important season of my life,” he adds.
Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez will thus put the culmination of a peculiar career of late vocation, in which the call of blood ended up imposing itself on other professional facets that he had already undertaken.
He appeared as a novillero with picadors in Ronda, on March 26, 2005, in a mixed poster along with Spartaco, who had reappeared for the occasion, and his brother Francisco. From the beginning he had the support and empowerment of his uncle, the right-handed Curro Vázquez. He was the most outstanding bullfighter of 2005 and won the Silver Ear from Radio Nacional.
He took the alternative in Ronda, in the Corrida Goyesca of 2006, which marked the beginning of an irregular career, not without serious mishaps.
Juan Ortega confirms today his alternative in Plaza México
The fifth run of the series Celebrate your passion, of the Monumental Plaza México, in the country’s capital, presents this Sunday Juan Ortega, who will confirm his alternative. Along with the right-handed bull from Seville, the Mexicans Diego Silveti and Juan Pablo Sánchez will make the parade, who will fight three bulls from Montecristo and three from Pozo Hondo.
Ortega took the alternative on September 27, 2014 in Pozoblanco, Córdoba, and 10 years later he will be able to confirm it in Mexico before an audience in principle in favor of the type of bullfighting that the Spaniard lavishes.
Ortega is fully embarked on his Mexican season and has already bullfighted in Aguascalientes, Juriquilla (Querétaro), León (Guanajuato), Morelia (Michoacán), among other places near the capital, before his presentation in Plaza México this December 1 December.
