The solo performance of the Sevillian bullfighter Borja Jiménez before six bulls on the afternoon of June 7, which is announced in memory of the bullfighter Ignacio Sánchez Mejías, and the already known absence of Morante de la Puebla are the only notable novelties at the San Isidro Fair that will be presented tonight in a gala to be held in the arena of the Plaza de Las Ventas.
The long cycle will run from May 8 to June 14, will consist of 23 bullfights, two bullfighting shows and three bullfights, and will be preceded by the Community Fair, composed of a Goya bullfight and two minor celebrations.
Only four bullfighters are announced for three afternoons: Alejandro Talavante, Fernando Adrián, Pablo Aguado and Víctor Hernández, along with a group of 15 who will do two Paseíllos, and a long list of lucky ones from which such well-known names as the veterans Curro Díaz, El Fandi and Rafaelillo are absent, others with ample merits such as Ginés Marín, and young people with projection, such as Marco Pérez, Sergio Rodríguez, Alejandro Chicharro, Álvaro Burdiel, Daniel Crespo, Aarón Palacio, Jorge Martínez and Javier Zulueta, among others.
There are no surprises in the livestock section either: La Quinta, Fuente Ymbro, Victoriano del Río, Juan Pedro Domecq and Conde de Mayalde will fight for two afternoons, in a set of usual irons, the most commercial for the so-called figures and best recommended, and the hardest, for the rest.
