Sorda It shows the fear, doubts and uncertainty of motherhood by a deaf woman when she discovers she is pregnant. For film critic Carlos Boyero, actor Álvaro Cervantes is what most captures his attention in this film, as highlighted in his weekly film criticism. Cervantes plays the listening boyfriend of the protagonist “with sobriety, likelihood, naturalness, emotional closeness” and considers that her character “is very well conceived and contributes a necessary and contagious humanity.”
“The rest leaves me cold, although the argument lends itself to emotional understanding,” Boyero adds. The film expert indicates that it is difficult for him to connect: “The situations seem repeated to me, I do not manage to hook myself with the universe and the reactions of the protagonist, I find it understandable but also unfriendly.”
Boyero celebrates the success of the film by the audience of the Berlin and Malaga festivals and that Hondo Cale in the mood of the spectators, but ensures that it is not their case.
Sorda It is directed by Eva Libertad and has achieved the Golden Biznaga for the best Spanish film and the Public Prize El País. In addition, its protagonists also took the main awards: Miriam Garlo to the best female interpretation and Álvaro Cervantes, the best male interpretation.
