The new Superman movie, with a script and direction by James Gunn, takes the most compassionate variant of the superhero to the spectators. There is even those who accuse of ‘Woke’ to the superhero. The film critic of El País Carlos Boyero reviews “with gratitude” the first three films of the saga but now “quantity” is bored in each encounter with this type of cinema. And he states that “galactic prolongations, dinosaurs, heroes Superman and Batman, James Bond and other myths of popular cinema” will stretch “their multimillion -dollar existence until the day of the final judgment.”
Boyero points out that while the beginnings of sagas “have almost always been spectacular,” now “everything is calculation, routine.” So it is not counted among the spectators who celebrate every new installment: “That the addicts enjoy their drugs. But I am clear that they are not mine.”
In the new Superman, David Korenswet replaces Henry Cavill, Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane and Nicholas Hault, Lex Luthor. “Agree that the hero is very vulnerable, that he is beaten and without any faith in his protein work, which he even is in crisis with his eternal love Lois Lane, that saving the world of evil is increasingly remote, than the villain Lex Luthor is ranging,” writes Boyero, after pointing out that he is not interested in “the naif.”
“I observe and listen to everything without excessive tedium although with void interest. And we continue for an abusive time on the screens with the ‘nothing here and nothing there,” he adds.
