As in a silent epidemic, in the absence of traditional commerce, in many of the commercial premises in large cities, housing is being set up for neighbors or for tourist use. In any case, the end of traditional stores – caused by digital platforms like Amazon, the rise in rents or the absorption of the market by large chains – makes the city look less like a city, less woven, more lonely. A city without shop windows. Because these “ribbons of glass” have been crucial in the configuration of the city and have kept the economy in its eternal rotation: modern society can be understood through its shop windows.
