Antonio Muñoz Molina was born on a cold night in January 1956 in an attic on Fuente de las Risas street in Ube, which he has always considered the most beautiful name in the world. “It was so cold in the room and you were so little that we thought you were going to die (…) We thought the roof would fly off. It was the year of the big ice. Half of the olive trees in Mágina froze. The cow we had lost its milk and the calf died of hunger.” It is a paragraph of the chapter The day I was born, in which the writer and academic from Úbeda (Jaén) recalls the events that marked his arrival into the world.
