The Bachfest came this year with a built-in mystery: which cantatas would have been the most voted for by the thousands of people who participated in the game proposed by its director, Michael Maul. Each one voted for their favorites and the 50 that obtained the most points would be performed over 12 concerts in the opposite order, ending with the one that had received the greatest number of supports. To the surprise of many, that privileged place has finally been occupied by Cantata BWV 106, God’s time is the very best time (God’s Time is the Best of All Time), a work with four instruments obliged composed by Bach in 1707, when he was only 22 years old.
