The news of David Hockney’s death has felt like the death of a friend. I never met him personally, but I have always been very close to his work, since I was very young. That’s why I know him deeply and his vision has directly affected me. Hockney was always a luminous man who opened many new paths in art. He established the transition between the world of abstraction and figuration, he created a bridge from which my entire generation has drawn in a very profound way. And me more than anyone.
