Last year the pub, run by Mick and Sarah Dore, welcomed 168 guests — in addition to the 110 regular customers — who dined free of charge, with a full roast dinner, figgy pudding and mince pies on offer. This year, for the 10th time, the Alexandra will do the same, serving a free Christmas lunch to anyone who would otherwise be alone. The pub will be offering the lunches on Christmas day itself, between noon and 3pm.
