Speaking about his appointment, Loftus said: “It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as President of the Law Society for the next 12 months and to be only the seventh woman to do so.

“Recognizing the important role that self-employed individuals and small businesses play in their local communities and the unique challenges and opportunities they face, I am committed to supporting and advocating for my colleagues to the best of my ability.

“As a proud Mayo woman and a barrister based in Ballina, I intend to call on my experiences working in a small community to be a progressive voice supporting and representing local and rural barristers across the country.” He said

Rosemarie says she does not underestimate the responsibility that lies ahead of me and I take on the role with great pride and care.

“While the Law Society continues to implement its ambitious strategy by supporting lawyers across the country, I will defend this work for the benefit of the public and the legal profession, both now and in the future.

“Together we aim to improve and develop a legal system that is best able to support the needs of its users. The expertise of the legal profession and the commitment of the Law Society and our stakeholders means that we can work to create a legal system that is fair, equitable and responsive to the needs of Irish society.

“I look forward to building on the great work of my predecessors and serving the legal profession with optimism and commitment.” He added.
