MorseLife brings a host of award-winning, best-selling authors to Palm Beach for the Literary Society’s 18th “Breakfast with the Author” series.
David Baldacci will start the lineup on January 8th, followed by Wally Lamb on February 12th and Clare Leslie Hall on March 19th. The series will conclude with Susan Orlean on April 2nd.
Invitation-only events are held each year at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. Each event in the series begins at 8:45 a.m. and includes an author presentation about their work and what inspired them, MorseLife said in a statement about the series. Guests have the opportunity to ask questions after the presentation.
This year’s series is hosted by Cynthia Berenson, Penny Blumstein and Marlene Strauss.
Baldacci’s “Strangers in Time” is set in 1944 London, where three people come together to survive World War II and the secrets that followed. Baldacci has published 52 adult novels in over 45 languages and over 80 countries.
Lamb is the author of six New York Times bestsellers, including her 1992 debut novel, “She’s Come Undone.” In his latest novel, “The River is Waiting,” Lamb follows a father struggling with addiction as he faces tragedy and the consequences of his behavior. “The River is Waiting” was Oprah’s Book Club’s 115th pick.
Hall worked as a journalist in London before writing “Pictures of Him” and “Days You Were Mine”. She lives in Dorset, England, with her husband and three children in the aging farmhouse that served as the inspiration for the setting of “Broken Country,” MorseLife said. In the novel, Hall explores the themes of love and grief. “Broken Country” was published in March 2025 and was that month’s selection for Reese Witherspoon’s Reese’s Book Club.
Orlean’s “Joyride” is a memoir published on October 14, 2025. In the book, she shares details about her “creative calling” and urges her readers to approach life with curiosity and wonder. His 1998 nonfiction book, “The Orchid Thief,” detailed his investigation of a herbalist accused, along with a group of Seminoles, of poaching rare orchids in South Florida.
