Dr. Jason Mitchell, Chairman of the Fiji National HIV Slush Response Team
The stamp and discrimination of HIV patients remain widespread in our society, and attitudes show improvement in only the last two decades.
This has been emphasized by Fiji’s National HIV Slush Response Team Chairman, Chairman of the Working Party, during a direct discussion with Dr. Jason Mitchell Fijivillege with Vijay Narayan, where he stated that the stamping may be even stronger, partly due to HIV and drug use.
Dr. Mitchell says that this link is unfairly burned by judgment and misunderstandings, as many HIV patients received the virus by other means.
He also emphasized that the stigma was wrongly placed and requires stronger efforts and targeted strategies to eliminate the discrimination of HIV-relocated and HIV-positive older children in society.
