The recently elected President Andrew Cairns of the Human Island Photography Association launched a new season by giving a brief performance that will feature the highlights that come to the Club 2025-2026 calendar.
It was great to see several new members.
By announcing that it had been decided to “refresh things” by presenting extra stimulation to enthusiastic amateur photographers and those who are only interested in photography, age or experience, he promised that there would be new features, and ‘enjoyment’ is the key to the mantra.
He lists many exciting events that members can wait for the coming year.
The new Committee has prepared a program on performance, photo challenges, useful curriculum and many outside events to maintain everyone’s interest.
His presentation was very informative and clearly reflected the structured approach that guarantees an entertaining year.
First of all, there is a 2025 summer challenge, the theme of the ‘Harbours and Marinas’ digital cameras, which will be performed in two weeks.
Two weeks later, the members experience “the joy and pain of underwater photography with Tim Nicholson”.
This is followed by an annual battle between three island clubs and societies on Friday, November 14 at Colby AFC Club House.
This is always a very friendly, social event, though passionately controversial with many wonderful pictures.
Later in November, there would be a practical evening that uses fiber optics for light painting.
The pre-Christian meeting is in two-half: the first is the opportunity to look at digital and print pictures of Patricia TUTT, a judge known as ‘Manx churches’, and the second in the form of society’s Christmas social.
Next year begins to flourish because members are called to spend the evening with Ruth and Chris Nicholls, with two societies, two performances, the first Austria and the second half with a rather fascinating title “medieval moments and village in the sky”.
Such presentations are always very popular and well -involved.
In February, society will have a performance by Dr. Lara Howe and the future of the future will take place in the “Nature” competition during Dave Salter’s return visit.
There is also a repeated competition for those who prefer to use mobile phones, city photography with Andrew Barton and outdoor shooting with Jason Kinrade.
There is also another studio session with a variety of internal lighting configurations and at least one island model.
Other upcoming elements include tutorials (such as exposure management), studio evenings and in peace group trips.
The next club meeting will be held on Wednesday 1 October at 7 pm at St John Ambulance headquarters next to Glencrutchery Road. New members always feel like they are among friends. For more information, visit online.com
