Actor Javier Bardem posted on his Instagram account a video recorded by an Israeli soldier in which it is observed how members of the Israel Defense Forces (FDI) shoot at a disharmed Palestinian child in the Gaza Strip. In his message, Bardem described the “Nazis” IDF and said they use “the same logic of terror and dehumanization” against the Palestinian population.
In the images you can see how a soldier asks if there is “a bullet in the bedroom” before shooting. The young Palestinian falls to the ground immediately, after which several people run to assist him. In parallel, celebration comments are heard by those who observe the scene through the camera: “Wow, often video! Yes! Son of a bitch!”
In its publication, Bardem compared the scene with the character of Amon Göth, Nazi officer represented in the film Schindler’s listwhom he described as “sadistic, who shoots prisoners from his balcony for pure entertainment.” The actor argued that this representation reflects “the banality of evil and cruelty exercised with total impunity”, which, in his opinion, is repeated today in the actions of the FDI.
The actor’s complaint about the massacre in Gaza perpetrated by Israel has not been the only one. Among his numerous social publications, he highlights one in which he states: “This account condemns the genocide in Gaza.” His words arrive at a time when Israel threatens to destroy the city of Gaza and when at least 83 % of the more than 53,000 dead in the enclave are civilians.
