The San Blas and Candelaria fair in the Madrid town of Valdemorillo, which traditionally opens the bullfighting season in Spanish bullrings, once again announces notable bullfighting figures in posters that have been presented in the cultural hall of the Plaza de Las Ventas.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Pueblos del Toreo company, Víctor Zabala and Carlos Zúñiga, as organizers, the mayor of Valdemorillo, Santiago Villena, and the festival councilor, Miguel Partida, in addition to the bullfighter Emilio de Justo, who will be one of the performers in a season ticket that will be held in the mountain town next February.
Businessman Víctor Zabala stressed “the change in trend” of a fair that usually did not announce leading figures, and argued that everything is due “to the involvement of the City Council to make it the first celebration with visibility of the season.”
For his part, Carlos Zúñiga highlighted the importance of bullfighting figures, like Morante, announcing themselves in previous years at this fair, which has led others to take another step forward and do the Paseíllo in a plaza “with a “Loyal public, who see in Valdemorillo the opportunity to spend a great day of bullfighting.” “The company’s goal,” he added, “is to create fairs that have the greatest possible atmosphere.” Finally, the mayor pointed out that “we have been going up a step every year and I am proud of this 2025 fair.”
The posters are the following:
Friday, February 7. bullfighting Alejandro Chicharro, El Mene and Javier Zulueta (Guadaira steers).
Saturday, 8. Mixed celebration. The rejoneador Diego Ventura, and the right-handers Sebastián Castella and José María Manzanares (bulls from El Capea and Carmen Lorenzo).
Sunday, 9. Emilio de Justo and Juan Ortega, hand in hand (bulls of José Vázquez, Garcigrande and El Parralejo).
