New London Architecture (NLA), the founder of the awards, and its judging panel — which included me — whittled hundreds of submissions from architects and homeowners all over the capital down to a shortlist of 14, which are in the running to win one of 10 awards next month: House of the Year, Environmental Prize, Materiality and Craftsmanship, Cost Effective, Compact Design, Greatest Transformation, Best Interior Design, Best Outdoor Space, Best Kitchen and People’s Choice.
