Potential gaps It is a proposal of collective imagination that is based on some of the conclusions reached during the research process of the project. Children of relaxationa project that analyzed the so-called Relaxation Style to examine how tourism led to the colonization of the Malaga coastline by global capitalism and how it transformed not only its territory, but also its economy and identity.

The workshop is argued as an exercise based on speculation, a word that is usually associated with the projection of real estate plans and the obtaining of economic benefits.

What would happen if we separated this word from its connotations linked to profitability? What if we use ‘speculation’ to think about a kinder, more sustainable, more desirable future?

Potential gaps It therefore proposes to think from the few undeveloped spaces on the Malaga coast, using collaborative methodologies and techniques from the so-called speculative design or fictional design.

The workshop is divided into three sessions:

– First session – Friday, November 1 (11:00 – 1:30 p.m.): we will collectively identify and analyze a series of ‘trends’, which we can understand as ‘signs of change’ or ‘futures inscribed in the present’.

– Second session – Saturday, November 2 (11:00 – 1:30 p.m.): participants will be grouped according to the ‘trends’ detected and will use techniques from futures design and speculative design to project possible solutions in the different gaps on the Malaga coast.

– Third session – Sunday, November 3 (11:00 – 1:30 p.m.): will be dedicated to sharing and debating the proposed solutions, as well as thinking about the steps necessary to turn them into reality.
