€ Prior registration required

All classes will begin with a brief theoretical introduction explaining the basics of character and prop design in the professional field. The bulk of the activity will focus on the practical aspect, studying different art styles so that attendees can create designs from scratch.

Several of the points that will be seen in this workshop will be:

  • Starting point: How to approach a design from scratch.
  • Proportions: It depends on the project, what aesthetic will my characters and props have?
  • Silhouettes: Making a design recognizable at a glance.
  • Psychology: With just a couple of gestures, convey what the character feels.
  • Interpretation: How to adapt your drawing style to fit with what other artists have done.
  • Posture: Reading the character’s intentions through his body.
  • Details. More details does not mean better design. How much did I go overboard?
  • Designer Examples: Great prop and character designers can help develop my style.

The content of the workshop has been structured with a young audience in mind, aged 13 to 17, who are interested in getting started in this field of drawing and design. The ideal number of attendees would be 15 to 20 people.

Taking into account the content and the scheduled activities, the course is estimated to last ten weeks, with one class per week lasting two hours each, and a price of €50 per participant.

The objective of these activities is to provide an approach to 2D design, focusing on characters and props, so that attendees develop a solid and documented foundation, in order to have an adequate starting point.

Without pressure or demands of any kind, just paper, pencil and imagination. There is no bad drawing style, anyone can have their own, both for personal projects and for animation or video game studios, for which different aesthetics will be studied according to the latest artistic trends.
