Tottenham Hotspur have managed to avoid a small crisis in the blink of an eye. The North London club lost 0-1 to their regular rival Arsenal on Sunday and seemed to be eliminated from the EFL Cup. Manager Ange Postecoglou’s team was 1-0 behind Coventry City in the third round for a long time, who are fourteenth in the championship. Defeat was avoided in the last stage: 1-2. Ferdi Kadioglu scored for Brighton & Hove Albion, who also won.

Coventry City – Tottenham Hotspur 1-2

Brave Coventry thought they would take the lead shortly before half-time, but Jack Rudon’s effort was blocked by Tottenham’s defence. No goals at half-time at the Coventry Building Society Arena, although that changed in the second half.

Tottenham, where Micky van de Ven was not involved in the selection of the match, was defeated after more than an hour of play. Brandon Thomas-Asante fired the ball against the ropes from inside the box, much to the delight of the Coventry supporters. Relegation-threatened Tottenham were eager to find an equaliser.

Postecoglou threw on James Maddison, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevks for the Lions in the closing stages to try to prevent confusion. The Australian manager succeeded in this task. Djed Spence scored to make it 1-1 in the 88th minute, and Brennan Johnson beat goalkeeper Ben Wilson with a shot in the second minute of regulation time.

Brighton & Hove Albion – Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2

Brighton got off to a perfect start: after only fifteen minutes, Carlos Baleba’s Long Shot flew past hopeless Wolves goalkeeper José San: 1-0. Simon Adingra doubled the score on the half-hour mark after good set-up work from Adam Webster. Gonçalo Guedes brought the excitement back to the Amex stadium shortly before halftime: 2-1.

Ferdi Kadioglu came on in the 82nd minute and it turned out to be a great opportunity. Substitute Yankuba Minteh made it 3-1 in no time by shooting from close range. It’s the first goal for Kadioglu, who has played 22 minutes in the Premier League so far since joining Brighton.

Thomas Doyle returned the favor for Wolverhampton Wanderers in stoppage time with a very nice and effective long shot. However, it was too late to prevent elimination. Brighton narrowly won and continues their adventure in another FA cup tournament. Mats Wieffer was used on the bench, while Joël Veltman remained on the bench for 90 minutes.
