Adapting a beloved book or graphic novel into a film can go in many directions; for example, you can experience success Lord of the Rings– of Harry Potterfilm adaptations, but it often happens that things go completely wrong. Therefore, successful book adaptations deserve a little more attention.

Shaking
Conor (Lewis MacDougall) has to deal with a lot more than others his age. His loving, devoted mother (Felicity Jones) is ill and has little in common with his strict grandmother (Sigourney Weaver). His father is also not there to support him, he has started a new family thousands of miles away.

Film adaptation
The monster is calling is a film adaptation of the book of the same name by Patrick Ness, published in 2011. Ness himself adapted his book into a film script after Focus Features acquired the film rights in 2014.

Monster
Of course, Liam Neeson is the one who actually brought the monster to life with his voice and movement, but filming used none other than Spider-Man actor Tom Holland to stand in for the monster.
Holland’s presence proved to be very beneficial to the then 14-year-old protagonist Lewis MacDougall: “It gave me something to look at while I talk to the monster.” You watch The monster is calling now on Prime Video.
