Next room, Pedro Almodóvar’s new film starring Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore alongside John Turturro, will hit Spanish cinemas on October 18, as announced today by Warner Bros. Pictures. The rest of the film’s cast has also been revealed: Juan Diego Botto, Raúl Arévalo, Melina Mathews and Victoria Luengo. After the short films The human voicealso starring Tilda Swinton, and strange way of lifestarring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, which premiered at the Venice and Cannes Festivals, this is the first feature film by the man from La Mancha shot entirely in English.

In the film, Swinton plays Martha, a war reporter with a strained relationship with her daughter, who seeks help from her friend Ingrid (Julianne Moore), an autofiction novelist. “The film talks about the limitless cruelty of wars, about the very different ways in which the two writers approach and write about reality, it talks about death, friendship and sexual pleasure as the best allies to fight against the horror,” they point out from Almodóvar’s production company, El Deseo.

Shot between Madrid and New York, with the support of Movistar Plus+, the film will arrive this year, in addition to Spain, to many other countries: Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Central Europe and Eastern Europe (except Poland), Nordic countries and Latin America, among others, as reported by Warner Bros. Pictures. Furthermore, the producer has pointed out that this new film also talks about life in a house built in the middle of a nature reserve in New England, where the two friends live “an extreme and strangely sweet situation.”
