DUNCAN MIL May 23, 2024 – Today, daily and near-daily marijuana use is more common than similar alcohol use in the United States, according to data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The study, published Wednesday in the journal Society for the Study of Addiction, shows that since 1992, the daily per capita use of cannabis in the country has increased nearly 20-fold. “More than 40% of current cannabis users use it daily or almost daily, which is closer to tobacco use than typical alcohol use,” said study author Jonathan Caulkins, a cannabis policy researcher at Carnegie Mellon University.
