‘We are as we look’ is a cycle directed by Paula Bonet that combines literature and painting. Through conversations between authors, readings of texts and live painting, it seeks to teach us how the gaze influences thought. In this fifth event on May 30, we will have the presence of the writer and doctor in Literature Marta Sanz and the editor and writer Lara Moreno. Under the direction of the event by Paula Bonet herself, the authors will talk about how images influence their texts, taking various examples as reference. On the colloquium table, the public will be able to see on the screens in the room the notes, drawings and paintings that Paula will be taking in her notebooks.

Paula Bonet
Painter and writer with a long career both in Spain and in America and, especially, Chile. She is the author of The Eel (a novel published by Anagrama and a pictorial exhibition that will be presented in 2024 at the prestigious Vila Casas Foundation) and illustrated books of enormous acceptance. Columnist in various media (El País, ElDiario.es, etc.), she directs the La Madriguera workshop, a creation space only for women from which she also organizes artistic trips around the world.
Marta Sanz
Writer and doctor in Contemporary Literature from the Complutense University of Madrid, winner of important prizes such as the Herralde Prize for novels (2015), the Ojo Crítico de Narrativa (2001), or the XI Vargas Llosa Prize for short stories. In 2006 she was a finalist for the Nadal Prize with her novel Susanna and the old people. She is the author of the novel A good detective never gets married (2012), and from the collection of poems Lying bitch-Hardcore, Barltelby (2010). As an editor, she has directed the anthologies Metalinguistic and sentimental: anthology of Spanish poetry (1966-2000) y 50 poets towards the new century and Book of the femme fatale (2009).
Lara Moreno
Sevillian writer and editor living in Madrid, where she teaches writing workshops. In addition to her stories collected in numerous anthologies, she has published books of stories Almost all scissors (2004) y Four times fire (2008), as well as the collections of poems The custom wound (2008), After apnea(2013) y I had a cage (2019), which, together with his unpublished poems, make up the volume Storm on Friday Eve (2020). In 2013 she received the Cosecha Eñe Award for her story A lifetimeand Lumen published her first novel, In case the light goes out, which obtained significant recognition from critics and readers. He followed Wolf skin (2016), a sample of narrative maturity with which Lara Moreno stopped being a promise to become one of the most prominent voices of the present Castilian narrative. The city (2022) is his latest novel.
