Star girl takes place ten years after the great battle, which we also see as a flashback. We get to see how Hourman survives the battle and how he and his wife Wendi follow the ISA to Blue Valley. They eventually leave their son Rick Tyler in the care of another JSA member and are killed by Solomon Grundy.
Their son Rick later takes his father’s commission and amulet to avenge his parents. Rick is played by Cameron Gellman and he is the new Hourman, who together with Courtney, among others, forms the new JSA.
